Since the Oki Lab is moving to Kumamoto Univ at the end of February, we paid a farewell visit to Prof. Shuh Narumiya, the department head, to express our gratitude. He gave us encouraging words and a celebratory bottle of wine. We thank him very much for his support over the past four years.

The final presentation of the “Genome Informatics Practicum”, taught by Shinya, was held. Although the course is designed for graduate students, we have received many applications from faculty members, postdocs, and medical staff since its first year. This year, we invited Dr. Yoshihiro Yamanishi from Nagoya Univ and Dr. Yasuyuki Ohkawa from Kyushu Univ to serve as guest lecturers. They gave talks on recent advances in AI-driven drug discovery and omics technologies, respectively. Zhaonan served as a teaching assistant throughout the practicum.

Zhaonan and Yuka received their degrees: Zhaonan from the Ph.D. program and Yuka from the master’s program. They are the first graduates of Oki Lab. Congratulations! We would like to thank Prof. Shuh Narumiya, the department head, for providing the research environment.

At the Annual Meeting of the Molecular Biology Society of Japan, Mizuki, Zhaonan, and Shinya gave talks, and Yuka presented a poster.

Oki Lab has kicked off its third year. Since we published four papers last year, we visited the Heian-Jingu Shrine to give thanks.

At the Molecular Biology Society meeting, Mizuki, Ryuichi, Zhaonan, and Yuka presented posters. Many people visited, and it was a great success!

We visited the Heian-Jingu Shrine to perform a purification ritual and pray for divine guidance. A few days later, Mizuki’s PIC paper was accepted!
