Graduate Students
We are seeking students eager to take on cutting-edge research that integrates spatial omics technology (wet) with big data analysis (dry). No prior experience in omics analysis or bioinformatics is required. In fact, members of the Oki Lab come from diverse backgrounds, including the faculties of engineering, science, and medicine.
For doctoral students, in addition to standard research guidance, we provide detailed support in preparing applications for grants, such as the JSPS Research Fellowships. These fellowships provide students with a monthly living allowance of approximately 200,000 yen and annual research funding of approximately one million yen. Many graduate students at the Oki Lab have received various research grants and scholarships, including JSPS fellowships.
To join Okilab, you must pass the Graduate School of Medical Education entrance exam at Kumamoto University. There are multiple opportunities to take the exam each year for both the master’s and doctoral programs. For more details, please check HERE.
If you are interested, please feel free to contact Shinya Oki (). We also welcome lab visits at any time.
Postdoctoral Researchers
We welcome applicants with a professional background in medicine, pharmacy, biology, chemistry, computer science, or statistics. In addition to providing research guidance, we actively support career development to help you become an independent PI in the future.
※ Salary, working hours, mandatory benefits, and other terms of employment are based on Kumamoto Univ regulations.
If you are interested, please feel free to contact Shinya Oki ()
Laboratory Facilities
The Oki Lab is fully equipped with facilities for anatomy, histology, molecular biology, and cell biology experiments. Therefore, there is generally no need to use shared equipment. Below is a list of some of the available experimental equipment.
